I was looking at Memorabilia Domestica
http://www.openlibrary.org/details/memorabiliadomes00sageuoft
and seeing that it looked as though one was supposed to be able to print it through Lulu. Indeed many outside pages describing the Open Library say you can print through Lulu. But I can't find out how to do it.

Try the following service (not affiliated with IA):

We asked for Memorabilia Domestica to be printed through Yakov's service, and are very satisfied with the result.

Now I'd like people's opinions as to whether we are using the Internet Archive's materials ethically.

The cost from Lulu for this 450-odd page book is $13.99 plus shipping, which works out at approx. GBP 9 if we buy 3 at a time.

We are sellers of second-hand books and have priced them for sale at GBP 13.99, which allows us a normal bookstore discount of approx 35%. We're not expecting to sell many copies (probably not more than a dozen or so a year), but there is a limited demand for this rare title, particularly here in the Scottish Highlands, to which area it relates. Our uploads to various bookselling sites take into account (by adding a percentage) the extra costs of selling at some of them, so the prices there are higher, but are designed, over our whole inventory, to allow us to receive our base prices, even though the costs of selling at a particular site may be high.

I just wondered whether folk would feel that we were using the Internet Archive's materials inappropriately, given the purpose shown in the Terms and Conditions of use for research. If I get strong feedback that our limited selling of this is inappropriate then I will not buy more copies to sell after the couple we currently have in stock are gone. On the other hand if I get feedback that this is OK, then I may do other books, though it is highly unlikely that this will result in a money-spinning operation, it will just complement our range of second-hand books.

Kind regards

Peter

No, no replies at all. I haven't done any further books, just keep a copy of Memorabilia Domestica for sale.

Hey that's pretty cool. I just sent a request for a book to be printed. I'll see how it goes. Seems to be pretty new, I was the 17th request and only 3 books in the archive.
